To begin our work, we split into four teams.
One
team went to reroof the roof of Dona Olga. In past years, we helped dig a
drainage ditch so that every time it rained, the water went around the house
instead of through the house.

The second team did cement work. The Friars are helping a
young man paralyzed and in a wheel chair, build a house. Our team is mixing and
laying the concrete (no cements trucks in Honduras). This is all done by hand.

The third team went to La Granja which is a boys’ orphanage that we have done a lot of work in the past for. The team was digging holes (in rocky soil) so that they could plant trees. Photos to come in a future post
The fourth team stayed at Casa Guadalupe where they have a
lunch program called Cenacolo, for children ages 5-12. It is only for the
children who are very poor. The school children go to school either from 7-12
noon or noon to 5:00 pm so there are two lunch times provided. The reason for
the program and how it is run is to help the children learn to serve rather
than learning a sort of helplessness. It is a Montessori-based program where
the children do everything. Two children serve the food to each of the children
at the table, one is responsible for cleaning the table after eating and one
sweeps the floor around the table. Each child washes his or her own dishes
after eating. One child from the whole group is the prayer leader. It’s an
amazing program.
Thank you again for all of your generosity. These are our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our prayers continue for the team as Jesus' heart and soul work through your hands, backs, and your own hearts and souls.
