Today (Wednesday) we pulled down a “fence” at Dona Olga’s
home, which was a mass of sire, wood, trash, all things imaginable all somehow
strung together. We filled up one of the
friar’s trucks with scrap metal that I went with Fr. Pascal and Dona Olga to
sell. We got less than $5 for the metal,
which she was thrilled about.

What struck
me most was her openness and happiness.
In her limited English, she wanted to know how old I was, how many
children I had, their ages, how many years we had been coming to Honduras, and
as many other questions as she could muster.
She told me she was 64 years old, had been to Miami, New Orleans and Jamaica.
She thought Jamaica was beautiful. In
fact everything seemed beautiful to her.

She said we were welcome in her house, and several times said “good life” in reference to either to the children we saw, or our lives. She is very grateful and happy with all the changes in her home. I am glad we are able to bring some “good life” into her world.
