Dear Friends, Families and Benefactors,
Sorry if you get a lot of posts today. It’s a
challenge to get internet between their computers, actually being able to
connect to the internet and a key to the office where to computer is sometimes
works and sometimes not…and then of course, we lose electric power occasionally!
The Missionaries of Charity have done a lot of work
in the mountain village of Laguneta and so today, the whole team went to their
local parish for Mass and then blessing of their homes. Half way through the
homily, the school children came in for Mass, bringing their own chairs. The
school is about a half mile from the church, down a hill and then up a big
hill.

After Mass, half the team left for the construction
site, about a fifteen minute hike up the mountain. Now they are shoving and
pick-axing the dirt from the hill next to the house to make mud to form the walls.
This is labor intense and, well, dirty work. The other half split into two
groups to accompany the families as Fr Dye and Br Ignatius, Sr. Vincentene (and
Mary, Sandra and Patti) went to nine houses while and Deacon Alan Sims, Sr
Florentine, Br Gabriel, Jasmine, went to four houses, much further apart to
bless the houses. It took about three hours to do.

It’s beautiful up in the mountains, and around every
corner was another amazing view.

breath taking views |
But what is more striking, is how the people
of Laguneta take care of each other and really know each other. They aren’t on their cell phones, ignoring each
other. They were with each other.
They waited patiently while we were figuring things out. The families were so
appreciative that we came from the United States to be missionaries to their aldea.
The families were intact and mostly young. It’s heart-warming to see the Church
alive and well in the mountains of Honduras.

Thank you for all of your support. It’s hard to
believe that we are more than half way through our mission work. We have some
very tired missionaries!
Be assured of our prayers for you.
